We are tradition

George Steller started this business in
the early 1950’s. Through hard work and reliable service, George built
the foundation for what Steller’s Garage is today. What started as a
small one bay repair garage has turned into a six bay automotive service
station. Throughout the years, Steller's has changed hands, not just to
anyone but to dedicated employees that have known customers and their
cars for years. Many people still ask about Phil Cayer who bought the
business in the 1970’s after years of working for George. Phil added his
own insight and many improvements to the company. In 1996, Phil sold
the business to Erik Lydiksen, an employee since 1983, and Kevin
Reichelt. The name Steller's Garage has been kept to assure customers
that we still provide quality service as generations have come to know.
We are diverse -
We also offer 24 hour towing and
recovery. Locked out? Out of gas? Flat tire? Just won't start? We
can help! Need to move a vehicle or even equipment? We offer flatbed
service. All of our wrecker drivers are highly experienced in towing and
recovery. Rollovers, down embankments, stuck in the mud up to the axles—
we've seen it all and can get you moving again.
All of our Towing
staff have taken Towing Certification classes through Towing & Recovery
Professionals of CT.
We are progressive
-
We utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic
software and equipment. We use the current library of ALLDATA which
includes all the manufacturers specifications for your automobile at our
fingertips. Look throughout our shop. There are several work stations
for our techs to access the vital information we need to fix your
vehicle correctly. As a result of our progressive thinking and open
mindedness for sharing information, we are often asked to host seminars
by the tools of the trade representatives to introduce new equipment.
We employ quality personnel
-
Michael Schaefer, our top Mechanic,
started his career here in 1985 when he was 15 years old. Along with
Erik and Kevin Reichelt, Mike is an ASE certified Master Technician.
All three men are also state certified for emissions repair. The crew
also takes advantage of training courses offered by AC Delco, NAPA, and
Snap-On.
Fred Smith started in 2005 as our
Service Writer. Fred has many years of experience dealing with
customers.
Steven Smith was recently hired, and
has recently graduated from Porter and Chester Institute in
Stratford, CT.
Matt Gorel,
who has graduated from Baran Institute of Technology in summer of
07, was also recently hired, as a mechanic, and part time, wrecker
driver.
We are thorough
-
We will fully explain what is needed on
your vehicle. We will give you an estimate up front. We get verbal or
written authorization prior to performing any work. We don't believe in
surprises. We fix what you authorize us to fix but we will also let you
know what things you need to keep an eye on. Just let us know and we
will save the worn out parts to show you what was replaced and the
condition of the parts that were removed. We believe in honesty and
that's the reason we have been around so long. A customer's well running
car is a great reflection on us.
We are bigger than we look
-
Don't let the three bay doors fool you,
we are a six bay shop. From an oil change to major repairs, private to
commercial, we have the facilities to get the work done. Yet, we are
small enough that in most cases, you are speaking with one of the
owners.
We offer a variety of services
-
We offer air condition repair on both
R12 and R134 equipped vehicles. With every AC service an ultra-violet
dye is used to locate an existing leak or one that develops over time.
We have a fuel injection cleaning
service that not only is a good preventative maintenance, but helps you
get more miles per gallon as well. We can flush your cooling system and
replace it with new coolant and additives to help prevent overheating
problems as well as unwanted freeze during our colder months. We offer
many other services for your vehicle. Stop by sometime or give us a
call.
